Материнская плата GIGABYTE Z790M AORUS ELITE AX оснащена чипсетом Intel Z790 и рассчитана на процессоры Intel с сокетом LGA1700. Модель поддерживает работу с линейками процессоров Intel Core 12, 13 и 14 поколений, Celeron и Pentium. Для накопителей доступны 4 разъема M.2 с поддержкой протокола NVMe, который обеспечивает более высокую скорость работы по сравнению с SATA-накопителями. Для подключения твердотельных накопителей и жестких дисков имеются 6 портов SATA. Встроенный модуль беспроводной связи поддерживает стандарт Wi-Fi 6E для стабильного подключения к сети.
Материнская плата GIGABYTE Z790M AORUS ELITE AX поддерживает работу оперативной памяти DDR5 в 4 слотах в двухканальном режиме. Максимальный объем памяти равен 256 ГБ, а ее частота в режиме разгона может достигать 7600 МГц. За счет этого ускоряется обмен информацией между процессором и памятью при высоких нагрузках. Для установки видеокарты предусмотрен слот PCI Express 5.0.
